The fabulous wonders of evolution! Notice the subtle yet effective design changes? Yeah it takes a moment, especially when it seems Porsche is testing each and every upcoming model of the 991 at the same time..ie GT3, Turbo. It can get confusing, however in the end each 911 varient serves a job so purposeful that to have it any other way would be nothing short of disappointing.
It's still unclear what kind of HP and performance numbers it will lay down. One thing we do know, the GT2 991 will be the fastest in the Porsche 911 ever!

2013 seems to be racking up to be a good year for Automakers according to most analysts and the numbers back it all up.
"the Honda Accord won this month's round, with April sales of 33,528 compared to the Toyota Camry at 31,710, the aforementioned Fusion at 26,722, and Nissan Altima at 21,991."
" Nissan posted the biggest YoY(year over year) gain of 24.62 positive, while Ford, which deals in volumes more than twice the size of Nissan, moved its needle in a positive direction by an impressive"17.77 percent."
Something to also take in is that all three Detroit automakers are gaining market share, mind you at the same time. Something that hasn't been seen in 20 years. Scroll down for a more detailed look at last months sales data...will you just look at all the "green" ...

My initial vibe was "oversized E Class" However that quickly faded once you take in that bold yet classically elegant Mercedes grille and bulging headlights. Anyone who felt the last model (or current) was a bit too soft on the intimidation scale, this new model should fix that and then some! Can't wait for the official debut!

What was basically going to be a simple swap of plugs and wires turned into something much more. Getting down and dirty with the Lex', we had the opportunity to inspect vital parts that are deemed to eventually fail or has already started to show signs of significant wear.
Plugs and Wires
Quick inspection revealed that current wires..drum roll please...are indeed the original, from the factory, date stamped 1995! Plugs have yet to be pulled at this point since discovering more essential repairs/replacements as described below. We assume those are not nearly as old but rather ready to be tossed. I'm not one to go all out and spend big bucks on o.e. parts for a car that cost us $900, however we did go with NGK mid level stuff that will suit the vehicles needs just fine.
TIMING BELT/WATER PUMP
Now this was one thing Andy (head tech) and I were somewhat dreading. Previous owner didn't have any records nor was he clear on the exact mileage he had the work done at. Removing the plug/distributor housing revealed a stressed, dry rotting timing belt. Simple, yet time consuming job this. And while were in there, might as well change what looks to be a leaky water pump. Off to the parts counter we go.
Upon removing the air filter and intake tubing we noticed a subtle coolant leak near the upper left outlet of the radiator. Didn't take much effort to snap off the hose that connects to it, nor did it take much to snap the actual plastic "nipple" that the hose feeds into either. Brittle stuff... there goes another $100 *sigh*
Set of NGK Iridium pugs and wires above ran us $125 and some change...or 1/10 the value of the vehicle
"Young" Andy, as we like to call him sometimes, shown here taking a quick nap after depleting parts of fluid. Quick Fact-- McDonald's Vanilla Ice Cream dipped in chocolate is sometimes used to boost his energy. Something he was obviously lacking in this shot.

This quick photo collage above shows little about the true condition of this once elegant full size game changer. We've seen worse, but Faded paint and a shabby interior is an understatement, this thing needs attention.

As expected, an LP version of Lamborghini's insanely rambunctious (..just the noise alone, my God!) Aventador will charge it's way into showrooms this year. The unexpected news is that the leaked picture above is that of an anniversary edition
The Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario to be exact. What better way to celebrate 50 years of Lamborghini's existence. Here's to another 50!
